SEATTLE/TACOMA
Lightsaber Combat for Movies!
Unleash your inner Jedi!
This dynamic and fun workshop introduces a “realistic” approach to lightsaber combat. Pulling from the Japanese sword, escrima, and European sword point work, students will explore how to safely perform with a popular weapon to make it look dangerous and exciting on film. Students will learn the accompanying footwork, handwork, and safety to perform choreographed sequences. We will examine lightsaber combat’s different styles, stances, and flourishes. In addition, examples of films will be shown, and a discussion will be held on what works, what doesn’t, and why.
Students are welcome to bring their own lightsaber to class if they have one.
